Accomodation
The charm of the Philipburn House Hotel derives from the fact that it is no ordinary concrete box but was originally the manor house on a landed estate. As such it has many quirks and foibles and some of its rooms are quite unique. In fact no two rooms are the same so there will always be a surprise or two when staying in a different room.
Needless to say, as the building was originally constructed in 1751, or possibly earlier, many of its features are those of an old building. There are twelve bedrooms in the main house and then a further eight rooms outside in what might be described as a motel style – but these rooms are better than any motel! Some are family rooms suitable for additional guests and are known as the hotel’s “garden rooms”.
The deluxe or executive rooms are spacious and perfect for that romantic stay with a spa bath, in some instances a four poster bed and even separate sitting accommodation. Some rooms have balconies overlooking the gardens; in fact the variety of features is enormous!
